Really not anything new has happened to speak of since the last reunion. No new grandchildren. No new jobs, Jerry and I celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary this year. Last year I was the chairman of the 50 reunion for the class of ’52 at BYU. That was an interesting experience.
Just a lot of this and that. We both have good health and are glad about that. We are able to lead, happy and healthy lives.

Activity at BRHS that most influenced my life.
As I recall, none in particular. They all had some part, as well as my friends and teachers.
My life this past 55 years: I have worked at the Tooele Ordnance Depot as a mechanic and then at Hill Air Force Base as an electoral plater. I served a mission to South Africa, did military service in Korea, then went to college at USU, was married. I finished college and we raised four sons.
I lived in Logan, Utah, Palmdale,California, Encino, California, San Jose, California, Fair Oaks, California, Linden, Utah, and since 1984 I have lived in Rexburg Idaho.
My accomplishments include: three Eagles scouts, four missionaries, currently seven grandchildren (the joy of my life).
The first son, Roy, was born in Logan Utah, lives in Anchorage, Alaska, has three sons and a daughter. Works at servicing city buses and does commercial fishing.
Second son, Claine, born in Lancaster, California, lives in Kalamazoo, Michigan, has a daughter, works in the hospital as a registered nurse.
Third son, Karl, born in San Jose, California, lives in Reno, Nevada, has a son and a daughter, he is an attorney and does litigation for an insurance company.
Our son, Greg, born in Santa Clara, California, lives in Salt Lake City, not yet married, works as a substitute teacher, still trying to finish college at the University of Utah, and sings in the Tabernacle choir.
My wife, Rhea, and I are in reasonably good health, but feel the wear and tear of the years, but we have a good life together.
We like camping and fishing in the summer, and I like snowmobiling in the winter. We raised a big garden. I still like to tinker with anything that has an engine, and enjoy woodworking projects. We have traveled in our motorhome from the southern border through Alaska and from California to New York.
We also enjoy camping in Island Park and Yellowstone Park. With my sons, we have enjoyed fishing trips in Alaska together. My wife and I have taken a cruise to visit the ruins of on the Yucatan Peninsula in Mexico.
As a novelty, a friend and I toured Yellowstone Park on a vintage tractor. It was never known to have been done before. My younger son says that it does not take much to entertain dad.
A friend of mine gave me a ride in his P-51 Mustang. I am still smiling from the experience. I am presently serving as a High Priest group leader in our Ward. My wife and I were ordinates workers in the Idaho Falls temple. We hope to soon be working in the Rexburg Temple.

My life has been quite adventuresome. Much of it has been traveling with my family. When my four girls were young, we packed up our household and moved to New Zealand. My husband worked on scientific balloon projects. The girl’s friend did not believe Ernie was getting paid for flying balloons. The friends thought he worked for the CIA. I embraced the British culture by going to the market every day and even went to high teas at times. I became a staunch supporter of the British royal family. I went to see the royal family a couple of times when they visited the Christchurch. We adopted a Christmas time tradition of having a barbecue on the beach with our stocking stuffed with garden fresh green peas instead of oranges.
My most grand adventure was accompanying my husband to the Ascension Islands in the Atlantic. We had an opportunity to stay overnight in a haunted house built in the 1700’s. We did have a terrifying encounter with a ghost who have never left the house. I was accidentally locked in the dark underground museum and while swimming in the ocean was sniffed by a 9 foot smiling shark. I would love to go back!
When my husband was 58 he retired. We sold our house, put our possessions in storage and let the girls use the car. We were as free as birds traveling back to New Zealand and Australia. The Great Barrier reef was my most memorial memorable excursion as on I was bit by a big fish while scuba diving.
My husband and I decided we should act our age as we are now in our 70s. Last year we were one wounded in New Zealand in a boating accident. A rough wave hit our boat and tossed us around. We decided we were not in our 50s. I still feel very adventuresome.
We have settled down in quiet little Springville. Now we travel and enjoy the company of our children and grandkids. They take care of our arrangements and keep us out of trouble.
Our four married daughters have given us 15 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. All of the older ones have been bitten by the travel bug. It doesn't take long to pack as I always like to go places!
Bear River High School was very important to me because my dad, Lee Roy Bunnell was the Ag. teacher. Life at Bear River High school was quiet calm and well-behaved “ mostly" and structured. I never dreamed my life experiences would include so much adventure.

Garland Puzy -- he helped me improve my typing skills. He enrolled me two typing classes in one year. That helped me earn a good living.
What went on with my life since 1952? I have raised four children, one girl and three boys.
I have nine grandchildren of which two sets of twins. I've three step grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
I have traveled to seven continents and am still traveling. I have retired three times. Once from the Ogden Defense Depot in Ogden, once from the Ogden City Schools, and once for Weight Watchers.
Last December I moved into a new home in an adult community and I love it. I enjoy good health and love life. I work on keeping busy doing whatever. I try to keep up a good attitude

Life since 1952: I attended Brigham Young University before going on a mission to the North Western States. Returned home and entered Utah State University and worked on the farm.
I met my wife Janet Capener at USU, and we were married on 21 March 1958 in the Logan Temple.
Started work at Thiokol on 9 Jan 1959 and worked there for 32 years. I took an early retirement and went to work for AeroJet in Mississippi. We lived in Mississippi and Tennessee for three years until the government closed the work there.
Upon returning home I was asked to take care of the church park in Elwood (Peterson Park). Elwood town asked me to take care of Hansen Park and the Cemetery. I also went to work mowing lawns for Moving Ranger, a Local mowing company.
Mowing lawns is my hobby. I enjoy making things look nice. I did this until age 70. I have enjoyed church service which included, serving in the Bishopric, Scout Master, Sunday School Teacher, Stake Financial Clerk, Stake Missionary, High Council, am currently Branch President at the Bear River Care Center.

Carrol Gunnell
Carrol Gunnell- Missionary in Russia
Hello Classmates: Wish we could be to the Bear River High reunion. We will be home September 6th, a little late for the reunion. Darrell said he would like a blurb about what we have been up to. Well this is our second mission. The first was an 18 month mission to Nigeria where it is so very hot, this mission is for 24 months and the winters are very, very cold. Both missions were tough, but this Russian mission, I think, is tough because of the language. We have really tried hard to learn the language but that isn’t one of our gifts. When we go teaching, we need the Elders to go with us. Speaking in meetings we need the Elders, etc. We are teaching English to the Russians, members and non member, twice a week. Sister Gunnell teaches the beginners and I teach the advanced. (I, who got D’s in English at BRHS.) We have baptized a few of our students, so whatever works. The Church is growing very slowly, but it is growing. There are no Stakes as yet but some of the areas are close. The people are a wonderful people and it will be a sad day when we have to say our goodbye’s to them. The food is fantastic. We love the food, probably too much as we are gaining a little around the middle. We live in a city called Talyatti, population 85,000. The city is a little Detroit as it has one of the biggest automobile plants in Russia. The city has the Volga River flow through it and we are surrounded by a beautiful forest. My short blurb is getting long so I will close now. I will be thinking of all you classmates during the reunion.

We have 51 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren. This is La Mar and my 3rd mission. Our first mission was in New Zealand as proseleting missionaries. It was great! The 2nd mission was at the Bishops Storehouse in Logan and the 3rd is here in Nauvoo where I am a site missionary and do “Sunset” and Rendezvous” twice a week. It is hard work. Events during the past 55 years:
Darwin: Owned and operated 2 businesses. Darwin Brough Const. Inc. & B&B Trucking Inc. I am proud of my son who now runs the trucking business which covers the Western States and a few back east. We are now retired and spend 4-5 months in St. George.
Ruth: Was secretary for the businesses for many years and then got a break. I have worked in different positions in the Ward in every organization. We have 17 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren and love spending time with them. We have traveled a lot and enjoy fairly good health (for now).
Hobbies/Interests/Talents: Still trying to find them.

Darwin: Owned and operated 2 businesses. Darwin Brough Const. Inc. & B&B Trucking Inc. I am proud of my son who now runs the trucking business which covers the Western States and a few back east. We are now retired and spend 4-5 months in St. George.
Ruth: Was secretary for the businesses for many years and then got a break. I have worked in different positions in the Ward in every organization. We have 17 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren and love spending time with them. We have traveled a lot and enjoy fairly good health (for now).

I can guess that even though you hate those routine trips to the doctor, you still humor him/her: you force yourself to exercise, resist that ice cream treat and tank up on pills. You complain that people mumble, and print is too small. Still, I suspect you do it all with wonderful humor. You are at peace because have long since learned the art of forgiving. You have loved and are loved, you have contributed generously and have gratefully accepted, you treasure many good friends and take absolute joy in your posterity. You remember, with justifiable pride, the many good things you have accomplished. And you’re ready for more—perhaps at a slower pace. I am glad to be one of you. I think you’re great!

MY 55 YEARS SINCE GRADUATION FROM “BRHS”.
Things haven’t changed much since our reunion 5 years ago. I attended BYU for one year then moved to Salt Lake City where I joined the work force. In 1961 I fulfilled a mission for the LDS Church. Serving in the Great Lakes Mission and it was one of the great experiences of my life. It was there that I first met my husband to be. It took him a while to come to Utah and to convince me that we should get married. It has been great. We have two daughters and eight grandchildren. Our lives have been centered around the church and our family – doing things as a family –nothing too spectacular but fun for us. After my girls were out of school I went back to work at Larkin Mortuary. I loved my job there, serving and helping people in their time of need and sadness. I retired from there in December 2001. I have enjoyed being at home since and meeting the challenges that I receive at this stage of my life. (If you notice that this is not too much different from the one 5 years ago you are correct. Please don’t tell anyone.)

MY LIFE SINCE 1952: I spent two years in the military as a 22-year-old greenhorn where I grew up and learned to appreciate the American flag, The freedom that people take for granted! As well as the great country called the United States of America. I especially appreciate the great generation that gave so much for us, including their lives. I retired from Thiokol Corp. with over 30 years of service. I was responsible for the Manufacturing Directorate, Quality Assurance Directorate and Test Directorate. Labor estimates, as well as the other associated costs such as special tooling, facilities and material costs for the fabrication and delivery of items which include Minutemen space shuttle, and other missiles. This effort also included labor justification, fact-finding and negotiation with customers. I was able to see some great things happen in the area of space industry in those 30 some years
My wife Elaine and I celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary the 14th of September 2 06. We have two children and four grandchildren. I'm active in the LDS church and have spent many years of service in callings that came with such service.
Hobbies/Interests/Talents: I sing in my ward choir, I play golf four to five times a week. I still ski, I started skiing in 1952 and it's still fun. I also snowmobile in many areas of the state. But I enjoy the Island Park area the most because of the view of beautiful scenery.

My life since 1952: well I haven't written many books and I haven't set any world records or been elected mayor, et cetera.
I was fortunate to serve a mission for the LDS Church and was invited to serve in the US Navy for a while. With considerable effort I managed to get a college degree.
Along the way I was lucky enough to marry a beautiful and wise girl. We walked and worked together for 28 days short of 50 years. (She died 2-1-07). Oh how I miss her.
We raised four sons (two of which have died) and one daughter. Our children have given us 18 grandchildren and one great granddaughter. How we love them.

I married Blain Madsen in August 1952. Together we had four children, three sons Jeff, Greg and Gary and one daughter, Jackie. We traveled throughout the state with the high school rodeo Association. Greg took second in the bareback the year he was a senior and Gary was a state champion his senior year. We went to nationals in Wyoming and Louisiana. That was a good part of our lives spending time with our children. We also did a lot of horse racing and camping with our family.
In 1968 I went to work for Bear River State Bank. I retired in 1990. Blaine passed away in December of 1993. After Blaine's death I traveled to Scotland, England, and France with some friends and the high school French club. We had a great time traveling. I spent some time in Houston, Texas and Illinois with friends who live there. I also was a volunteer at the Bear River Valley Hospital for five years and was president for two years. In January 1999 I married Lee C. Johnsen. We spent two years working in the Logan Temple. Since then we've we spend our winters in Yuma, Arizona and our summers camping and fishing, traveling-Washington, DC and surrounding areas as well as Kentucky and Canada. At the present time I have 14 grandchildren, eight grandsons, and six granddaughters. Ryan, my oldest grandson served a mission in Brisbane, Australia. Jake my second grandson wrestled for Bear River High School and was a state champion at 119 lbs. his junior year. He was student body president in 2005-2006 and received the ambassador scholarship for USU. He just finished his last year at Utah State in May and the left to serve an LDS mission in the Vladivostok, Russia Mission. Our granddaughter Jessica was a cheerleader at BRHS. I have six grandchildren married and eight great-grandchildren. I have lived in Tremonton all my life, staying home for 48 years. I've had a great life.

One of the classes that helped me early on was the commercial art class where I learned how to create the big banners advertising coming events. I did a lot of work of that nature at Utah State, and became involved in some fun activities as a result.
Another class was the public speaking class taught by Milt Johnson, but the most important class to me was the Student Council. I learned where the bones were buried? what was really going on in school, and I really learned how to eat humble pie, due to my short lived insurrection with Maggie Woodside.
I got my college degree from Utah State, where I was active in Student Government. I immediately left for Southern California where I taught for one year, then left to teach in the San Jose area. I married and had a daughter, who now lives in Alpine with her husband and my darling 4 grandchildren. I returned to Utah State and earned a graduate degree. I left my marriage and 7 years later married a widower with 5 children, we were married 30 years before he passed away. I earned a graduate degree in counseling, and that was my career for nearly 20 years. After my husband died, I later met an air force-commercial airline pilot, Bob, and we traveled, golfed, played bridge and enjoyed ourselves for 7 delightful years. He passed away just a year ago.
I have had a condo in Maui for 27 years, and have spent the winters there for some time. I recently sold my home in Los Gatos, and moved to the Villages, a retirement golfing community built on an old winery site, and I have a lovely view of a lake and lots of wildlife. And I got a hole in one--life is good.
My greatest contribution since graduation: I have been associated with Valle Monte, a volunteer group, for 17 years, and have participated in many funds raisers for Mental Health. We put on a heck of a week of teas, coffees and grand ball type activities during the early Christmas season and earn between $50-60K each year. I’ve done some volunteering with kids needing ESL support. I was associated with a psychologist as a female counselor; we worked as a pair doing marriage counseling for several years. One of the most fun activities was teaching folk dancing to hearing impaired girls. They were terrific. I also taught a class at Foothill college for women entering the work force after being at home mom and not working for years.

Mr. Jorgensen helped me develop my voice. I've done a lot of barbershop and quartet singing. Mr. Blackham didn't take any guff and I can still quote some Shakespeare. Mr. Kerr was great, he was a friend to everyone. I think he is one of only two former teachers that are still alive at this time. He lives in my ward and still remembers our high school days. He still has a great sense of humor.

I Built a family business with my wife and sons. We own and operate a grain elevator, trucking and brokerage, service and ship grain throughout the world. I have raised and am still raising a wonderful family of eight children, 31 grandchildren, three step-grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. I have been in two bishoprics and a member of the Stake High Council. Cherre and I worked in the Logan Temple for four years. I was a member of the hospital board, city planning commission and the City Councilman for over 20 years. I've played baseball and sponsored many baseball teams. I help build a ball diamond and donated the first scoreboard at the Tremonton City North Park.
HOBBIES/ INTERESTS/TALENTS: I love to work to still do, whether it is on my little farm, in my yard and garden, or driving down the road in my Kenmore truck. Playing with my grandkids and watching their ballgames is a delight for me.

I try to stay active although I would rather nap than work. I am scheduled to teach two sessions a month in various parts of the USA and Canada for a hearing aid organization for the next year or so. I have spent a good deal of time over the last several years doing consulting work for a Utah company. Have enjoyed Church Service in nearly all areas. I have been spared activity in Relief Society and YMMIA. My most enjoyable church calling was as a Stake President in Rochester, Minnesota. As Mac Thompson said about me, “You as a Stake President would really test one’s faith.” He really knows how to hurt a person.
It will be good seeing all you “old” people.

This blog was put together to see if it would be worthwhile for you folks to look at. A number of folks have asked for copies of pictures, disks and even copies of the booklet we passed out. Frankly we only made enough booklets to give one to each class member. The darn things were the second most expensive thing we did. The meal cost was the greatest. In view the fact that I am far too poor to print up any more of the items I thought this might be a way to get around the expense. Granted I realize that some folks don't have the internet so this wont be much help to them.

Activities that influenced my life since 1952: There were too many activities and classes at BRHS influenced my life to mention in this short article. Certainly the I have fond memories of the fun dances, ball games, and all of my classmates. I had a great social life, probably should have paid more attention to school classes.

I then married Doug Estep in 1977. We lived in Oregon, Sp0kane, and Idaho. We were married for 18 years. Doug was killed in an airplane accident in 1955.
I have worked in various positions. I was a Purchasing Agent and line assigner for Contel Telephone Company. I worked in Contel State office in Engineering and Drafting. I owned an operated my own clothing store. Foxy Fashions in Tremonton. I worked for Mid States Consultant out of Nephi as a drafter and at Nucor Steel for 15 years in purchasing.

Retired as Sheriff from Oneida County (Malad, Idaho) We spend our winters in Arizona and will have a permanent Arizona address in the winter at #46 J.R -RV park, Quartzsite Arizona. At BRHS I liked all my teachers, always enjoyed our fun assemblies, loved the exciting sports events and appreciated good friends to do all these things with.
LIFE SINCE 1952:
I spent four great years at Utah State University going to school full-time and working part-time in summers on campus. I earned my BS degree in teaching and secretarial science, and then stayed on another year working on the USU campus. In 1957 I received a call to serve in the British mission for 18 months. For a year of my mission I was privileged to be the secretary to the mission president, Clifton Kerr, of Tremonton.
I was married in 1961 and was blessed to have a son and two daughters. Seven years later we adopted a new born son and three years after that a new daughter. From my five children have come five grandsons and five granddaughters. I was blessed to be a stay-at-home mom most of my married life.
In 1990 I joined Brigham Young University admissions staff and worked there 12 years until retirement in 2002. In 2003 and 2004 I served a one year mission in the Illinois Peoria Mission as a proselyting missionary in a small college town an hour from Nauvoo. I was able to visit the Nauvoo Temple and attended other interesting activities about once a month. I also went to Carthage a couple of times.
Since returning from Illinois I have served at the Provo Temple each week. I serve each week two four hour shifts as a part-time church service missionary at the Church Distribution Service Garment Center on BYU campus. I also work a couple of afternoons a month at a Family History Center trying to learn about Family History.
Hobbies/Interests/Talents:
Most of my church service has been with music. I very much enjoy listening to good music, reading and being with my family and friends.

Life since 1952:
Talk about jogging your memory! Went to work in Idaho during the summer of 1952. Then I moved to Ogden, Utah. Worked at a job at Quick Freeze place, and stayed there for 6 years.
In Feb 1948 I got married and had three daughters, one of which is deceased. The marriage lasted five years and then we were divorced. During this time I got a job with Fife Rock Products of Ogden. I married again and had four more children two daughters and twin boys. We have been married for 43 years. I now have 16 grandchildren and one great grandson.
I put in 37 years at Fife Rock Products and retired in 1994 at the age of 60. I don't know when I had time to work.
I have horses, chickens and a dog. I have also raised pigs, sheep, and calves. The saying goes “ You can take the boy away from the farm but you can't take the farm away from the boy".
I still enjoy hunting, fishing and camping with family and friends. I go every chance I get
Hobbies/interests/talents my greatest accomplishment in life was to make the world a hard place. Ready mix cement truck drivers do that type of thing.

CLASS OR ACTIVITY AT BRHS THAT MOST INFLUENCED MY LIFE: It is difficult to name just one because we had so many great teachers at BRHS. “Tuff” Linford was a great baseball coach. Mr. Jorgensen helped me develop my voice. I've done a lot of barbershop and quartet singing. Mr. Blackham didn't take any guff and I can still quote some Shakespeare. Mr. Kerr was great, he was a friend to everyone. I think he is one of only two former teachers that are still alive at this time. He lives in my ward and still remembers our high school days. He still has a great sense of humor.
LIFE THESE PAST 55 YEARS: Becoming a self-proclaimed billionaire. Just kidding of course (Now Darrell Rose will be asking for a loan or handout). Seriously though I've worked hard. I Built a family business with my wife and sons. We own and operate a grain elevator, trucking and brokerage, service and ship grain throughout the world. I have raised and am still raising a wonderful family of eight children, 31 grandchildren, three step-grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. I have been in two bishoprics and a member of the Stake High Council. Cherre and I worked in the Logan Temple for four years. I was a member of the hospital board, city planning commission and the City Councilman for over 20 years. I've played baseball and sponsored many baseball teams. I help build a ball diamond and donated the first scoreboard at the Tremonton City North Park.
HOBBIES/ INTERESTS/TALENTS: I love to work to still do, whether it is on my little farm, in my yard and garden, or driving down the road in my Kenmore truck. Playing with my grandkids and watching their ballgames is a delight for me.

What have you done with your life since 1952: Nothing much has changed since our last reunion. We have more great grandchildren (15 now). Dee and I have celebrated our Golden Wedding Anniversary in 2004. In 2006 we were married in the Logan Temple.
Hobbies/interests/ talents: Reading, quilting, spending time with family and friends.

LIFE THESE PAST 55 YEARS:
We made our home in Bountiful and have lived there now for 52 years. We have 5 children, 12 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
We both retired – Boyd from L-3 Communications and Connie from the LDS Church.
Two of our daughters live in Phoenix, AZ, so we enjoy trips there as often as we can. We have gone on two extensive Church History trips and traveled all over the western states and some eastern ones – the last one to New York City, Palmyra, and Niagara Falls. We have enjoyed cruises to the Panama Canal, and the latest with our children and their spouses to the Eastern Caribbean for our 50th wedding anniversary.
We served a full time mission at Cove Fort Historic Site. We were called for 6 months and lived in our travel trailer. Then we were asked to extend our mission, so we moved into an apartment for the remainder of the mission – serving 18 months there. This was a wonderful experience.
I am currently serving as a church service missionary at the Church Office Building, something I was doing before our full time mission. I am also serving as music chairman at Bountiful Branch Assisted Living Center.
We have season tickets for BYU football and have a summer home in Oakley, Ut. We enjoy being there with our family and friends whenever we can.
Hobbies/Interest/Talents: Piano, Music, Sports, Traveling, Cruising (hoping to go to Alaska next summer)

Activities that most influenced you at BRHS:looking back, most of my classes and activities help prepare me for the future. In type 1 and type 2 I acquired skills that I had used in most of my jobs.
What is happened in my life since 1952: It seems like a very short time since we graduated from BRHS. But when I really stop and reminisce through those years, and look in the mirror, 55 years does take a while, but still there are many sweet memories.
I have held four jobs (the paying kind), Garrett Freightlines, Harris Truck & Equipment, the Defense Depot in Ogden, and Cory Auto Salvage Yard.
My non-paying jobs have many rewards, being a wife, mother, grandmother, and caregiver. My sweetheart, Ed passed away March 3, 2004, leaving me to face the world alone again. Since Ed’s passing my health has decided to take a vacation. I have an electric chair a Jacuzzi, but have not had a lift put on my car yet. It is a little harder to do the things I want to do, but I have been able to do almost everything I want. Sometimes it takes a little more effort, but I still feel that I’m pretty darn lucky. I know a whole lot of people who have helped much worse than I do.
I am blessed with a family that knows my limits, and manages to keep me in line. They have provided me with grandchildren, and great-grandchildren who can really make the sunshine. I think they are God’s reward for surviving the children.
Looking back everything was fine. Being a member of the PEP club, PEP band, and Marching Band was fun. The very best part of school was the friends. Each and every one is special.
Hobbies/Interests/Talents: I have enjoyed many church callings, but being an officiator in the Ogden Temple was my favorite. I enjoy going to basketball, soccer, baseball and lacrosse, to watch my grandchildren play. I enjoy reading, hand work, traveling, and going to class reunions.
